Thinking About Identity

Okay, so like a dork I’m pretty excited to take my ServSafe Manager certification test thingie.

While I’ve been preparing, I’ve been thinking a lot about what I want for Tita Letty’s. I’ve always envisioned it to be a take on the sari sari in the Philippines. The colorful little shops attached to the front of houses that sell snacks and other small items.

The one thing that really sparks joy inside of me (yeah, yeah, joy sparks are not only for when you’re cleaning out your closet) is cooking for other people. The problem is that I suffer from  anxiety. Maybe that might be weird for some people to read on what appears to be a food blog. But the thing is Tita Letty’s has been the only thing that has pulled me out of a lot of self doubt and low self-esteem. More on that later.

I was kind of like thinking you know, eh, if you write about that it’ll make it seem like you’re trying to earn pity points or something. I’m not, I’m trying to do something else. I’m trying to come from an honest place and hope that me being honest about this might resonate with someone else who has been held down by self doubt and low self-esteem. I’ve always found comfort and healing in food and cooking. And if you’re in a low place I hope you can find that thing you love to do that helps you through, and I hope you take it and do it and live it and I hope it helps you find positivity and love for yourself.
